About me
Hi! My name is Ashley McGhee and am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant/Licensed. This is my 6th school year at Canton City and I work with the middle school and high students on OT caseload. I have been a COTA/L for 19 years and prior to working in schools I worked with adults in skilled nursing, psych, home therapy, and was a Director of Rehabilitation for a 95-bed skilled nursing facility. I have three children Percy (17) a senior, Carly (14) freshman, and Xavier (10) 5th grader. When I am not at work I am busy attending all of my children's sporting activities (crazy sports mom). Percy and Xavier play football, baseball, and wrestling and Carly is a cheerleader for football/basketball and plays softball. My family and students are my world!
This course is geared toward students who receive accommodations In this course, you will learn different accessibility features we use in OT to allow our students increased independence with accessing their curriculum. We will talk about read-aloud, speech-to-text, using/setting up Siri for advanced dictation recognition, voice control, enlarging icons and text, and more. We will go over how to set these features up so please bring your iPad. Feel free to ask any questions and if I don't know the answer I will figure it out and let you know!
